Roleplay First

Naelthira is a roleplay-first site. This means we give priority to the development of story and writing over the creation of articles and other paperwork.

Some websites become obsessed with paperwork and overly embellished source books. Worldbuilding is fun and creative, and we still encourage people to contribute to the lore of the site by building the Wiki Codex but voluntarily. In today's world, people have limited time; especially since our site is 18+, we are all adults with jobs and real-life obligations that need to come first. If someone has a choice between having time to make a post on the forum and Creating An Article, we would rather they make the post on the forum.

Also, when too much emphasis is put on the creation of lore, it can lead to Worldbuilder's Disease, which actually ends up being more destructive to the lore of the site than helping it. We see that when people are devoting themselves to Worldbuilding, they are contributing articles that truly add to the setting. We want to avoid the creation of articles on things that everyone knows what they are; things like water, lightbulbs, ladders, etc.

So the paperwork will never be required; it will always be optional.
